What to Expect
Testing is quick, painless, and usually takes only a few minutes. It can be safely completed for newborns, children, and adults.
- A soft swab is gently rubbed along the inside of the cheek of each person being tested.
- No needles or blood draw are required.
- Samples are securely packaged and sent to our accredited laboratory for analysis.
- Results are typically available within 3–5 business days.
- When your results are ready, we’ll walk through the report with you and explain anything that may be unclear.
Laboratory Testing You Can Trust
Your DNA samples are analyzed by an AABB-, ISO 17025-, CAP-, and CLIA-accredited laboratory that follows rigorous standards for accuracy and quality.
Each test is performed twice before results are released, providing an additional level of verification.
The laboratory examines 34 genetic markers and can confirm paternity with a probability of 99.999% or greater when the tested man is the biological father.
Who Can Be Tested?
Testing typically includes:

In most cases, a DNA sample from the mother is not required. However, including her sample may be recommended in certain circumstances.

Because samples are not collected through a legally documented chain-of-custody process, the results cannot be used for legal purposes, including:
- Child support proceedings
- Custody or parenting disputes
- Birth certificate changes
- Immigration matters
- Inheritance or estate proceedings
- If you need results for court or another legal purpose, you will need a separate legal paternity test with verified identification and documented chain of custody. Circle of Hope does not provide legal paternity testing.
